Program Name

Doctor of Philosophy Program in Electrical Engineering (Ph.D. Electrical Engineering)

About the Department
The Department of Electrical and Biomedical Engineering is part of the Faculty of Engineering, Prince of Songkla University (PSU) in Hat Yai, Thailand. It offers B.Eng., M.Eng., and Ph.D. programs in electrical engineering and biomedical engineering. Major research areas include power engineering, telecommunications, electronics, and biomedical engineering. The Faculty of Engineering (established in 1967) is the first engineering faculty in southern Thailand and supports multidisciplinary engineering research and education.
Vision
A leading electrical engineering program designed to cultivate internationally capable engineers and researchers.
Mission
  • To produce highly skilled and knowledgeable electrical engineering researchers.
  • Employing a sustainable learning process focused on lifelong learning.
  • Developing academic leaders who employ problem-solving and independent research methods to create new knowledge.
  • Fostering creativity in producing high-quality research that is practical, applicable, and internationally recognized.
  • Cultivating high moral and ethical standards and a compassionate attitude towards society.
Program Educational Objective

To produce doctoral graduates who:

  1. Are advanced academics with the knowledge, abilities, and intellectual skills to conduct systematic research;
  2. Possess a thought process for creating new knowledge in electrical engineering that supports the target industries (S-curve) according to the national strategic plan;
  3. Are internationally recognized and possess high moral and ethical standards, with selflessness and dedication to the benefit of society;
  4. Are aware of their own responsibilities, conduct themselves appropriately in their roles, and have good interpersonal skills with colleagues in the organization and with the general public;
  5. Possess numerical analysis skills and advanced electrical engineering problem-solving skills, as well as critical thinking in the appropriate use of information and communication technology.
Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)
  • PLO1: Create new knowledge or innovations in electrical engineering to solve problems in the fields of electricity, power, electrical communications, electrical electronics, or biomedical engineering.
