About the Department

The Department of Computer Engineering at Prince of Songkla University offers graduate programs at both the master’s and doctoral levels. These programs were revised in 2021 to ensure international academic quality and alignment with the rapid development of computer technology. The department emphasizes advanced research and the integration of expertise across five key academic groups:

Study Plans (Tracks)

The program offers three study plans to suit different goals:

  • Plan A1 (Thesis Only): Focuses entirely on high-level research (36 credits)
  • Plan A2 (Coursework & Thesis): Combines advanced subjects with research (12 credits coursework + 24 credits thesis)
  • Plan B (Coursework & Independent Study): Designed for professionals focusing on practical application (30 credits coursework + 6 credits minor thesis)

Student Admissions

The programs admit both Thai and international students. Applicants can choose between standard institutional tracks or a Dual Degree Program in collaboration with Kanazawa University, Japan, where students may receive degrees from both institutions.

  • Master’s Admission: Available for Plan A1 (Thesis only), Plan A2 (Coursework and Thesis), and Plan B (Coursework and Independent Study)

Master’s Degree Admission Criteria

Master's Plan A1

  1. Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Communication Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Information Engineering, or Computer Science, with a cumulative GPA of not less than 3.00
  2. OR Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in the programs specified in item 1, with a cumulative GPA of not less than 2.75 and have research experience in Computer Engineering, or have published research, or have received national-level awards
  3. OR Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a closely related field specified in item 1, with a cumulative GPA of not less than 3.00 and at least 1 year of work experience in Computer Engineering
  4. Possess other qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Program Administrative Committee
  5. Other qualifications must comply with Prince of Songkla University Regulations on Graduate Education

Master’s Plan A2

  1. Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Communication Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Information Engineering, or Computer Science, with a cumulative GPA of not less than 2.75
  2. OR Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in the programs specified in item 1, with a cumulative GPA of not less than 2.50 and have work experience related to Computer Engineering, or have published research, or have received national-level awards
  3. OR Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a closely related field specified in item 1, with a cumulative GPA of not less than 2.50 and at least 1 year of work experience in Computer Engineering
  4. Possess other qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Program Administrative Committee
  5. Other qualifications must comply with Prince of Songkla University Regulations on Graduate Education

Master’s Plan B

  1. Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, other Engineering fields, Computer Science, Information Science, or other related fields, with a cumulative GPA of not less than 2.5
  2. Possess other qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Program Administrative Committee
  3. Other qualifications must comply with Prince of Songkla University Regulations on Graduate Education

Special Collaborations

The program offers a Double Degree Program in collaboration with Kanazawa University, Japan, allowing students the opportunity to earn degrees from both institutions
